Advice fromLAURIE Our society is made up of a hotbed of people waiting to pounce on someone to blame for all the ills that befall them and their lots in life. Were you aware of the fact that the AIG executives are now receiving death threats? Even the ones who have committed to giving their entire bonuses back are getting equally harassed. Some of them have been subpoenaed to Washington to testify about the whole ordeal. Populist cynicism is running rampant, and unfortunately, President Obama, this is what comes with being TRANSPARENT and wanting everyone to know everything you are doing or considering doing in this administration. You just can't please everyone, but some of the “everyones” who are the most malcontent happen to be the loudest ones, too. It seems that this administration is going to live in fear of doing the wrong thing constantly, and judging by the campaigning that went on during the election, the democratic party is going to continue being ruled by the loudest of the malcontents. Get this. Do you remember the issue regarding Mexican trucks coming into the U.S.? Well, the loudest of the louds insisted that this would take jobs away from Americans, cause horrible pollution and make problems for the roads. Well, the whole ordeal had to do with 98 (NINETY-EIGHT) trucks!!?!! Charles Krauthammer said, “If you thought AIG was an example of Democratic incompetence over a relative triviality, look at this. There are over 6.5 million trucks in the United States. This program allows 98 Mexican trucks to roam among them. And over that, they are willing to risk a trade war with Mexico.” The administration didn't want to appear to look like it was taking jobs away nor making more pollution in our ever-greener nation. However, did anyone administrating this issue stop to consider ahead of time what actually could and did happen because of this? It caused Mexico to retaliate with tariffs on 90 goods affecting $2.4 billion in U.S. trade coming out of 40 states. Oops!! This is exactly what you get when you let the loud bullies tell you what to do. That loud group just loves to blame without looking at neither consequences nor, most of all, themselves. These very people who are controlling policy through bully tactics and are the same ones who decried Bush who are now decrying what the Obama administration is doing, and they won't stop until they get as many people angry as possible. These people who complain are actually probably the least informed of all of us American citizens, but they have become the loudest and the most fearful because of the volume-based insanity. They jump on the first thing they hear of that sounds unfair to them. Basically, what it comes down to is that the conservatives allow natural consequences to happen and for the people to become stronger because of it. Maybe if McCain had won, he would have let the companies crash and burn and let survival of the fittest happen and we could have come out even stronger. I can hear groaning already. The liberals want to help the downtrodden by their version of “caring and fixing.” I hear the other half groaning now. Neither side is always right, however, both sides are totally necessary to create the kind of world we want to live in. Both sides have great points as well as some that aren't so great. Is there a way for this healthy democratic society to put all the malcontents (who don't fit into either category) on an island so they can govern (or annihilate) themselves? Balance, good –malcontent loudmouths, bad. Things are really good, the Dow is doing well; slowly but surely. We have a lot to look forward to if we don't fall into the pit that the malcontent “blamists” set out to snare more prey. |
