Ask the Chief of the Anna Police Ask the Chief of the Anna Police:
by Kenny Jenks

A weekly column allowing readers access to useful information about law enforcement issues in the Anna area.

Each week I receive requests for information from people in the Anna area. Having received repeat questions on the same subjects, I thought I would write a weekly column that might help answer some of these questions in the public forum. This column is the personal opinion of Kenny Jenks and is not the official opinion of the City of Anna or the Anna Police Department.

Q: Dear Chief Jenks,
I would like to thank you for your officers’ efforts at keeping us safe. We know how few of you there are and how difficult it is to keep up with all of the problems we have here in Anna. I watch the newspapers and see that you guys are going to so many calls lately. You are the only thing keeping us from becoming a regular east McKinney.

Sue—Old Anna

PS. When are you going to move out of that small building and into the bank?

Dear Sue,
You are very welcome. It is difficult to handle our city with as few officers as we have but we have some really good ones here in Anna and they do a fantastic job of it. Take comfort from the fact that most of the people here in Anna, just like most of east McKinney (and every other city), are good, law -abiding folks. There are a percentage of problem children in every group of people. We are all very lucky that they are not in the majority!

As for moving, we can’t move fast enough. God willing by mid summer we will be in there. Thank you for the email.

Q: Mr. Jenks, I want to make you aware that I am not happy with you at all. You were invited to a victim’s advocacy event and you didn’t make it. After I bragged on you and everything, you let me down. I hope you have a good excuse! Seriously, we missed you at the Victim’s luncheon. Thanks for all you do in Anna!

Deb—rural Anna

Deb,
Please forgive me! We had some things happen over the weekend that caused me to miss the luncheon on that Monday. Sorry I missed it. I am truly an advocate of the crime victim and we work hard here at the Anna Police Department for our citizens that are unfortunate enough to become victims of a personal crime. Once we get them into the justice system, our DA’s office does an excellent job of taking care of victims and their families. We thank all of those involved in Victim’s Advocacy for their service.

Serious Note: Our condolences go out to the family of Sandra and Ty Chapman. Sandra’s mother, Ginger (a lifelong Anna resident), passed away this week after a long illness. Laura and I pray that the Lord will give you strength during such a sad time. See you next week.

NOTE To my readers, thank you for all of your Emails. I don’t get a chance to print all of them, but I do read them.
