ANNA, Texas – Former Anna City Councilman David Crim has plead guilty and was sentenced to 2 years of probation for attempted theft by a public servant. In addition to his probation, Crim also received a $1,000 fine and $300 in court costs.
Sources indicate that Crim, while acting in his capacity as president of the Anna Community Development Corporation recommended a company in Dallas for the purchase of bleachers and received approval for the purchase of bleachers from members of the CDC. |

LONG TIME ANNA RESIDENT JOE FINLEY JR., at last week's City Council meeting, was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for donating a number of crape myrtles to the city. In accepting the certificate, Mr. Finley quipped that “they are growing better outside City Hall than they did in my yard.”

ANNA, Texas – Last week, around midnight, an Anna officer on routine patrol noticed a pickup truck suspiciously backed up to a garage in the 800 block of East White Street.
One of the two occupants sitting in the pickup identified himself as the owner of both the pickup and the home. The officer ran a check on both of the individuals. While the results were clear on the owner, the passenger had an outstanding felony warrant. He was ar-rested for the warrant as well as for possession of a controlled substance.

ANNA, Texas – A minor vehicle accident last week at 6:15 a.m., had a tragic ending with the death of the 66-year-old female driver later that day.
According to Anna Police Department officials, “A female driver was observed swerving between lanes on N. Powell Parkway in front of the Anna Post Office and left the roadway.

ANNA, Texas – The Anna City Council voted 5-1 Tuesday evening against the smoking ordinance which would have banned smoking at area restaurants.
Councilman Mike Crist initially made the motion to deny approval of the ordinance and Kevin Anderson seconded the motion. Councilman Keith Green, Darren Driskell and Becky Glover joined Crist and Green in voting down the ordinance 5-1.
