A VIRTUAL GEOGRAPHY QUIZ IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER from FM 455. Just turn into The Falls and start reading street signs.

There are lots of streets named after all kinds of falls. But where are they?

The easy one, of course, is Niagara Falls – we all know that it’s between New York state and Canada’s Ontario province.

Helmoken Falls – is a bit more difficult, however. It is on the Murtle River in British Columbia.

Athabasca Falls? Getting harder – they're in Jasper National Park in Alberta Canada.

And now for the really tough question – what falls are known as Mossi-oa-Tunya (translation: The Smoke that Thunders)?

Answer: Victoria Falls in southern Africa on the Zambezi River.

WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT, ANNA POLICE REPORTS contain family violence incidents. And that is the reason that three Anna Police Department members: Sergeant Jeff Caponera, Detective Steve Williams and Officer Jonathan Harris are now certified in Sexual Assault/Family Violence Investigations.

SIGN LANGUAGE IS ALIVE AND WELL IN OUR NEW HOME COMMUNITIES. No, this is not about signing – communicating with the hearing and speech impaired, but about signs that pop up on lamp posts and street sign poles.

In Oak Hollow, my community, on our daily morning walks, I learn about lost dogs and found cats or the other way around. I see garage, yard or moving sales signs that may be a precursor to a moving truck in the driveway.

In other words, they are a pretty accurate barometer or a mirror, if you will, what is going on in the community. My all time favorite sign, written with multicolored crayons, by some very young entrepreneurs, advertises a dog wash.
