WITH VIOLENT STORMS ROLLING THROUGH OUR AREA well into the night last Saturday, Anna residents were alerted of impeding danger, not once, but actually three times by Code Red weather alert phone calls. Each call, the first in late afternoon, the second early evening, and the third late evening, preceded the three storms that were heading toward Anna. If you have not signed up for Code Red, please do so. And, like the Boy Scouts say, “Be Prepared.”

THE SPIRIT OF FRIENDSHIP AND COOPERATION in Anna was evident at the last City Council meeting when Crow's Country Cafe request for a variance to serve alcohol at the restaurant was supported by Pin Oaks Church. (The variance was needed because Crow's is less than 300 feet from the church).

Pin Oaks Pastor Phil Morgan said, “I think this issue is more about working together to support the needs of the community than it is about alcohol.” The variance was approved.

PARENTS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS IN OAK HOLLOW AND TARA FARMS probably should start a walking program over the summer to be in tip-top shape come fall. With the elimination of school bus service for elementary students both in Oak Hollow and Tara Farms it's going to be, for some, more than just a walk around the block.

From the furthest points in each community, the walk to school will be well over 1-1/2 miles. Yes, sidewalks will be built, according to Anna ISD officials, from Tara Farms to Bryant Elementary.
