Anna PD Two public intoxication arrests made, burglary occurs

ANNA, Texas – Anna Police responded to a hold-up alarm at Anna Fine Wine and Liquor at 8: 45 p.m. on April 24.

Officers on the scene soon discovered that a panicked female employee, no doubt remembering Love's Travel Mart robbery the night before, hit the alarm as an unidentified male suspect grabbed two bottles of liquor and ran out the door without paying.

In other police news: An unoccupied home in the 1 000 blo ck of Willow Way in Oak Hollow was hit by burglars on the afternoon of April 23. The home, with a “For Sale” sign in front, lost a refrigerator.

Two public intoxication arrests were made April 26. The first was at Anna Mobile Home Park, where officers responded to a disturbance call at 2:30 a.m. The second arrest was in the parking lot of Love's Travel Mart.

Also, on April 26 at 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a sexual assault on a child call in the 2100 block of Athabasca Falls in The Falls subdivision. According to Sgt. Jeff Caponera, this is still an ongoing investigation with no additional details to be released at this time.

The 1000 block of W. White Street was the scene of a theft on April 27, at approximately 7 a.m., as someone cut a chain and stole two trailers. One was a 4x12-foot homemade trailer valued at $300, the other a 12x226-foot car hauler, with a front mounted tool box, which is valued at $7,500. There are no suspects at this time.

On April 27, at 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Ashley Lane in Tara Farms subdivision where a one year old child needed medical assistance. According to Sergeant Caponera, the child, who ingested a number of sleeping pills was transported to Children's Hospital in Dallas. While CPS has been notified, the child's status is unknown.
