White Street) and Highway 5 (aka N. Powell parkway) a virtual forest of campaign signs. Sources indicate, mayoral candidate Darren Driskell, Councilman Mike Crist and School Board hopeful Billy Deragon must have been out at the stroke of midnight on Thursday, April 9, the first day of official campaigning (per city ordinance). Their signs, well before dawn, greeted early morning risers at the entrance of virtually every subdivision. Mayor Kenneth Pelham's signs appeared later that day, while Jeff Frazier, running for re-election for his school board spot, had his signs out later in the week. Council candidate's Tim Bates signs were not visible until Saturday, April 18. Two communities, however, seem to have been forgotten by most candidates. At North Pointe Crossing there is only the lone Mayor Pelham sign. Pecan Grove residents are greeted only by Darren Driskell and Mike Crist signs. And the “I'm not taking anything for granted” award goes to Marc Hendricks, running unopposed for City Council. Some residents have commented that someone should call Marc and tell him he’s going to win and he can pick up the signs now. |
